How to watch Netflix with $99 Pop Video iPhone Projector review..

Got the Pop Video iPhone projector the other day. The Pop Video Projector is a $99 dollar piece of hardware that attaches to your iPhone. The hardware does have a battery that will require a charge off a USB cable. Battery life is advertised as 2 hours but I was only getting an hour off a full charge. Video quality is good at Video Output: qHD (960 x 540 pixel resolution). You will need to install the free app for it to function with iPhone. I found it most useful for lying in bed and watching netflix on the ceiling. The app prevents you from showing your iPhone screen live instead it browses for NON-DRM video files. I got it to play netflix by going to the web browser through the pop video app, then going to netflix.com. Do not allow the page to open the  netflix app. Sign in to netflix and pick a show. Again the battery life is only about an hour. Need to make a bed post mount and wire up some power. It has to be a matter of time before the iPhone has the projector light built in. I could not find away to show power points or keynotes unless you save them out as a PDF or image or mov file.
Here some more info.

  1. Hi there, I'm with the PoP Video team. I wanted to note that you can actually project Netflix straight out of their own app. You won't be able to project the Netflix app environment but once the video starts playing, the PoP Video will project the show. The PoP Video also displays many other apps that support video out, we will be posting a list on our Website soon. Also, the reason your battery may have a shorter than two hours playtime is the vent holes may have been covered up on the bottom. If you elevate the device a bit for longer projection, try it with keeping the vent holes uncovered to see if it makes a difference. We'd like to hear your feedback, so please feel free to email us at customerservice@thepopvideo.com.

  2. I would also like to clarify, use of the PoP Video app is optional with projection. You can use the PoP Video app to project from Apple's own apps that support video out such as Photos, Videos, and iPhoto as well as from apps like YouTube, etc. Thank you.

  3. And one final clarification if I may. :-) Viewing the iOS desktop via projection has been disabled by Apple, we would love to be able to offer that function to our customers. Hopefully one day the API will be released. Finally, we would like to thank you for your review!
